Helen Chmielewski

February 22, 1912 — June 8, 2009

POLAND - Prayers will begin Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m. at the Holy Family Church, for Helen B. Chmielewski, 97, who died Monday afternoon at her home at Sunrise Assisted living in Poland surrounded by her family.

She was born Feb. 22, 1912 in East Youngstown, the daughter of John and Barbara Zetts Judin.

Helen grew up in Campbell, where her father owned and operated Judin Meat Market. She was a 1929 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School, where she played basketball and later graduated from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Canton in 1934. She had lived most of her life in this area, where she worked as an Industrial nurse, did general duty work in the Youngstown area hospitals and worked as a private duty nurse before retiring in 1964.

She was a member of the Ohio Nurses Association District Three, Friends of the Poland Library, the Poland Grange, the Catholic Sokols and the Holy Family Church.

She loved gardening and working outside in her yard and could grow anything!

She is survived by three children, George Anthony Phyllis Chmielewski of Georgetown, Texas, Judith Richard Waid of Warren and Monica ?Niki? Latsko of Poland; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George W. Seubert; her second husband, Stanley Chmielewski; a son-in-law, Jack Latsko; a grandson, Rodney Latsko; four sisters, Anna Repasky, Elizabeth Yankulak, Marie Stanko and Dorothy Patrick; and a brother, Stephen Judin.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel.

The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to either Friends of the Poland Library or the Holy Family Church in Helen?s memory.
