Helen Evans

YOUNGSTOWN - Helen Evans, 92, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2024, at her home. 

She was born on October 11, 1931, in Crawford County, West Virginia, to parents William and Margaret Vencil Clark.

Helen's journey of compassion began early in her career when she worked as a nurse's aid at Ron Joy Nursing Home.

She was a graduate of Princeton High School in West Virginia.

Helen found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as going out to eat, shopping at the mall, and savoring her morning cup of coffee.

One of Helen's favorite pastimes was watching old television shows, "The Walton's" being her favorite. She also enjoyed playing card games with family and friends.

When it came to family, Helen cherished every moment spent together. Being surrounded by loved ones brought her immeasurable happiness. Her legacy lives on through her surviving family members: sons Charles (Debbie) Evans of Youngstown and Dennis (Karen) Evans of Las Cruces, NM; granddaughters Valerie Evans of Holiday, FL and Amanda Evans of Youngstown.; as well as her beloved granddogs Ellie and Minnie and eight other granddogs.

Helen is reunited with her parents William and Margaret Vencil Clark, her loving husband Donald Evans, whom she married Aug. 1, 1953; and her dear siblings Dorothy Vari, Stella Thompson, Perl "Ed" Clark, Elgin Clark, and Elmer Clark.

Family and friends may call Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from 11 am to 12 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church in Youngstown.  A memorial service will follow at 12pm. Those attending are asked to wear Helen's favorite color pink. 

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
