YOUNGSTOWN ? A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen Of Hungary Church, 854 Wilson Ave., for Mrs. Helen C. Kovach, 97, who died Monday evening at Omni Manor.
She was born Aug. 14, 1913, in Karcava, Hungary, a daughter of Joseph and Vera Suhy and came to the United States in 1940, becoming an U.S. citizen on June 7, 1948.
She had worked at Bell Bakery which later became Dandy Bread until they closed in 1956. She was a homemaker, belonged to the church since 1940 and was a member of its Altar Rosary Society. Helen truly loved going to church and spending time with her family.
She was married to Joseph Kovach, who died June 1990.
She leaves her son, Bernie Marsha Kovach, who she lived with until she moved to Omni Manor; two grandchildren, Thomas Connie Kovach, and Kimberly Philip McHenry; and four great grandchildren, Vincent and Christopher Kovach and Matthew and Alyssa McHenry, all of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers; and five sisters.
The family would like to express their thankfulness for the love and compassion that Dr. Barbara Modic and the staff at Omni Manor West wing gave to Helen.
Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel and from 9:30 a.m. to the time of service at the church on Friday.
