Helen McGarry, 86, of Canfield, formerly of Poland, died peacefully Tuesday evening at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. McGarry was born on July 15, 1929 in Youngstown, daughter of John and Mary (Roman) Bayus.
She attended Chaney High School. After high school, Helen worked as a welder for the Mackenzie Muffler Company. She retired shortly before the birth of her firs child in 1950.
Helen enjoyed crocheting, sewing, painting and knitting. She was always known for her beautiful garden. She also enjoyed bowling, playing the lottery, and visiting various casinos.
Most importantly, Helen loved her family. She was a loving, caring person who would do just about anything for anyone; whether she knew you or not. She was always there for her children, and loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
Helen's husband, John Ronald McGarry, whom she married on July 15, 1949, died Sept. 18, 2002.
Helen leaves to cherish her memory her three daughters; D.J. "Donna" Depp of Canfield, Sandy (Pat) Chrystal of Youngstown, and Patricia (Ken) Crago of Canfield; son William McGarry (Dr. Jocelyn F. Shimek) of Canfield; three grandchildren, Shawn Chrystal (Mark Griffith), Amanda Bayus Crago, and Jeneane Marie (Brent) Hugos; two great-grandchildren, Keighan Griffith, and Mackenzie Chrystal Grant; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, and husband, John, Helen was preceded in death by her grandson Patrick Chrystal, great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Griffith, and son-in-law Richard Depp.
Following Helen's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a graveside service will be held on-- at Lake Park Cemetery, at noon.
