SHELBY - Prayers will be held Saturday at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Columba Cathedral Church for Mr. Henry V. "Hank" Brock, 79, who died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at MedCentral Shelby Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Nov. 25, 1929 in Youngstown to Gabriel and Annie Massaro Brock, and had been a longtime resident of Youngstown, moving to Shelby in 1996.
A 1947 graduate of Ursuline High School, he also graduated from Youngstown State College. Hank retired from Home Savings and Loan in Youngstown as an appraiser and following retirement, he worked at K-Mart and WalMart in Mansfield.
Hank was a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, former member of the Lions Club in Youngstown and volunteered for many years with the American Red Cross and Hospice of North Central Ohio.
A lover of music, he had participated in the marching band while in high school and college. A man of many interests, he had a passion for photography and enjoyed keeping in touch with his fellow Ham Radio operators. Most of all he loved watching sporting events, especially those involving his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Theresa Powaser Brock of Shelby; one son, Hank Brock of Youngstown; one daughter, Susan Brock Garbark of Gahanna; two stepsons, Richard Bonnie Banichar of Shelby and Rob Annette Banichar of New Washington; one stepdaughter, Terry Dan Caudill of Willard; 10 grandchildren, Nick, Luke and Nathan Garbark, Mike and Leslie Banichar, Steve and Andrea Banichar and Mary, Sarah and Zach Megan Caudill; and four great-granddaughters, Madison Cain, Braelyn and Taylor Gardner and Kyrsten Caudill.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Kay Brock.
Friends may call Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
