YOUNGSTOWN - Henry Dominic Marsilio, 89, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2024 at Assumption Village Nursing Home.
Born on May 30, 1935, in Youngstown, he was a loving husband to his wife of 67 years, Joan (Susko) Marsilio and a devoted father to his four sons.
Henry was a 1953 graduate of Girard High School. He also attended YSU.
Henry, always hard working and dedicated, began working at the age of 17 at US Steel. He spent 8 years working at General Motors and was known as a skilled die maker and roll turner. Henry was also a businessman alongside his wife Joan. Together they owned several businesses, including Palmer Upholstery and Lady Foot Shoes to name a few, as well as some real estate investments.
His love of the outdoors led him to hunting, fishing, and gardening and always keeping the house in its best shape. Henry was also a prolific basket maker. Henry could frequently be found enjoying antique cars, and enjoying the many car shows and parades with Joan, riding in their 1930 Model A.
Henry’s interests also included travelling with Joan, where they traveled much of the US, South America, Europe and several trips to his beloved Italy.
Henry’s quick wit could always light up a room with laughter and he easily made many lifelong friends. One of his favorite joys came when the house was filled with family and friends during the many holiday dinners he and Joan hosted.
He was a member of St. Christine Church. He was also a member of the Ohio Forestry Council, the Knights of Columbus and volunteered his time with St Vincent DePaul.
He is survived by his devoted wife Joan (Susko) Marsilio, whom he married Feb. 16, 1957; three sons Victor Marsilio of Austintown, Ronald Marsilio of Lake Wylie, SC and Michael Marsilio (Diane Smythe) of Palm Harbor, FL; his loving sister Angie Frasca of Austintown. Henry was also a grandfather to 5 grandsons, Garrett and Taylor Marsilio (Jenny), Anthony and David Marsilio and Nico Marsilio. He also was a gentle strength to many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents Victor and Mary (DiTomasso), his first son, Henry “Hank” Marsilio; brother Emilio (Nina) Marsilio; and brother-in-law, Neal Frasca.
