YOUNGSTOWN - Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, officiated by Fr. Edward Noga, for Henry Zimmerman, 91, who died peacefully, Saturday evening at Masternick Memorial Nursing Home.
Henry was born July 2, 1925, in Steelton, Pa., the son of William and Andrea (Bedell) Zimmerman.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country during World War II. Henry worked at Berkwitz as a plant manager for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of the K of C and AMVETS Post 0044.
Henry had a heart of gold and made friends with everyone he met.
His wife, the former Daisy Antonini, whom he married Sept. 14, 1946, died in 2008.
Henry is survived by two daughters, Mary Ann (Tony) Stetson of Ravenna and Carol Gibson of Warren; two sons, Henry (Kathy) Zimmerman Jr. of Youngstown and William (Theresa) Zimmerman of Vancouver, Wash.; brother William Zimmerman of South Carolina; five grandchildren, Sara, Amy, Tony, Leslie and Michael; and five great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Jean Gallagher, Lillian Makita, Fern Zimmerman, Elizabeth Zimmerman, and Sylvia Creatore; and two brothers, John and Glen Zimmerman.
Family and friends may call Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Lake Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to any AMVETS organization.
