BOARDMAN - Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel for Howard J. Lonardo, 95, who passed away Monday morning at his daughter's home.
Howard was born June 21, 1914 in Youngstown, the son of the late Vito and Mary Leonelli Lonardo.
Howard was a 1934 graduate of South High School and then attended electronics school in Chicago.
He was owner and operator of Lonardo & Sons Green House for over 60 years. Prior to joining his dad at the green house, Howard worked for Triangle Music, where he repaired Jukeboxes.
Howard was a member of the Pilgrim Collegiate Church.
He was past president of Lowellville Rod and Gun Club and the Ohio Vegetable and Potato Growers Association. Howard enjoyed fishing, boating and traveling.
His wife, the former Emma M. Lobinger, whom he married June 21, 1937, passed away April 15, 1981.
Howard leaves a daughter, Jane Scott of Boardman; a sister, Josephine Anzelmo of Boardman; a brother, Arthur Lonardo of Boardman; a granddaughter, Kimberly Darren Cumbie of South Carolina; a great-granddaughter, Katelyn Cumbie; and a special friend, Carol Essad of Boardman.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son-in-law, Ronald A. Scott; and a brother, Michael Lonardo.
The family will be receiving friends Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Friday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
