BOARDMAN - Ida E. Miller, 101, peacefully passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025 at The Inn at Christine Valley, 3150 S. Schenley Ave., Youngstown, OH 44511.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, on November 26, 1923, Ida was  the daughter of Frances Morrone and Sam Santelli. On December 13, 1947, she married Alvin A. Miller, Sr., who preceded her in death on October 9, 2007. In 1968, the couple moved from Chicago to Columbus, Ohio, and relocated again to the Youngstown area in 1980. She was a 1942 graduate of St. Patrick's High School for Girls in Chicago and spent the last years of her life living happily at the Inn at Christine Valley in Youngstown, Ohio.

Ida was of the Roman Catholic faith and served as president of the Holy Family Church Seniors for 12 years. She also belonged to Saint Charles Seniors and the 2162 Club, another local senior-citizens group.

Originally employed as a bookkeeper in Columbus, Ohio, Ida later worked for Fonderlac Country Club in Youngstown. Family and friends were always the center of her life, however. She will be remembered for so much but especially for her Italian cooking, her crocheting and her volunteer work.

One of her Italian specialties was delicious biscotti cookies. While some people might secret away a cherished recipe, Ida gladly shared both the recipe and batches of these delicacies with everyone she loved. She was known for crocheting and giving away countless beautiful Afghan blankets and scarves--items that will now be treasured and handed down as heirlooms. She was also generous with her time and talent as a volunteer, earning a reputation among her family, friends, and community/church groups as someone always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

She is survived by her only son, Alvin A. Miller, Jr. (Mary Ann) of Canfield, OH; her four grandchildren: Keith (Kristen) Miller of Boardman; David Miller of South Euclid; Andrea (Martin Albright) and Chad Calcagno of Pittsburgh; and her niece Cynthia Soderquist of Chicago. Her beloved great-grandchildren, Maren Miller and Leland Albright, also survive her.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ida was preceded in death by her sister, Emily Mirabelli; her brothers, Frank and Alfred Santelli; and her first daughter-in-law, Sheila Miller, who died in 1997.
