Irene Bobovecz

YOUNGSTOWN ? Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Higgins -Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Irene B. Bobovecz, who passed away at her home on, July 3, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. She had been under the care of Hospice of the Valley.

Irene was born May 15, 1919, in Wheatland, Pa., the daughter of Dominic and Bertha Sitar.

She moved to Youngstown, when she married her husband, of 63 years, Louis John Bobovecz, who died in 2003.

Irene was employed by the South Side Branch of the Mahoning National Bank for 38 years. She was a member of St. Stephen of Hungary Church, and as the church Sacristan donated her time and energy there for many years to beautify the altars and decorate them for various holidays.

She also volunteered at St. Francis of Assisi Church before it closed. Irene was a member of the St. Stephen?s Jr. Altar and Rosary Society and the Senior Citizen?s Group. She loved to play bingo with her late friend, Anne Milich and her daughter, Sandi and was able to play an amazing number of cards at one time! She was devoted to her family and friends and spent her life helping others.

Irene leaves a brother, Sylvester Sitar of Hermitage, Pa.; three daughters, Dr. Patricia Jamison of Centreville, Md., Barbara Adolf Kralj of Poland and Sandi John N. Burlock of Austintown; a niece, Janice Wilford Cruz, who lived with Irene and her husband, after the death of her mother, Helen John Totin Irene?s sister; seven grandchildren, John N. Christine Burlock Jr., Kevin M. Kralj Esq, Patricia J. Burlock, Kenneth M. Kralj and Kristy M. Robert Regula of Youngstown and David K. Yasemin Jamison and Susan L. Dale Hopkins of Maryland; and her six great-grandchildren, Nicole L. Burlock of Youngstown and Leyla L. Jamison, David K. Jamison III, Dale C. Hopkins Jr., Daniel D. Hopkins and Ryan L. Hopkins of Maryland will miss her greatly. Irene also leaves three nieces and five nephews.

Besides her husband, parents and sister, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary William Lenzi, and sister, Rose Sitar.

Special thanks to Cindy, Karen and Barbara, staff of Hospice of the Valley, who provided loving care and support for Irene during her illness.

Friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
