POLAND - Prayers will begin Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11a.m. at the Holy Family Church for Irene C. Byrdy, 86, who died Saturday evening at Assumption Village Care Center.
Irene was born Nov. 22, 1927, in Youngstown, the daughter of Frank and Rose (Szajewska) Pruszkowski.
She was a 1946 graduate of The Rayen School and later worked at McKelvey's department store before becoming a homemaker and raising her six children. She was a devote Catholic, belonging to the Immaculate Conception Parish before joining her new Parish family at the Holy Family Church.
Her husband, Stanley Byrdy, whom she married in 1950, died Dec. 6, 2006.
She is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth (John) Horvath of Poland, Michelle (Jeff) Giancola of Boardman, and Francine (Pete) Brown of Amherst, N.H.; three sons, Stanley (Donna) Byrdy of Augusta, Ga, David (Mary Lou) Byrdy of Hubbard, and James (Karen) Byrdy of Mt. Vernon; and 11 grandchildren, Matthew (Lauryn), Michael, Melissa, Joseph, JoLynn, Celia, David, Emma, Cameron, David and Hannah.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.
