BOARDMAN - Irene Evans (Nadolny), born on December 13, 1947, in Haltern, Germany, at an internment camp, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2024, in Boardman, Ohio, surrounded by the beauty of nature, under the shade of trees, with her loving husband and daughters by her side. She was 76 years old.
A proud alumna of Cardinal Mooney High School, class of 1965, Irene cherished the camaraderie of her monthly luncheons with classmates. Early in her career, she worked at the Diocese of Youngstown, where she formed lifelong friendships with the other girls.
Her vibrant social life included a cherished card club and a beloved group of childhood friends from the Polish community, friendships she maintained and deeply valued throughout her life. She also cherished her walking friends with whom she would meet at the park to share secrets and solve life’s problems. Known for her insatiable curiosity, she was a lifelong student, always embracing new challenges. Her most recent was working out with Jen at The Focal Point where her determination and a few nudges led to strong bonds and a fit, healthy lifestyle.
Creative and sociable, Irene was a masterful party planner and a collector of friends, loving all of them and their families deeply. Above all, her greatest joy was her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Mary Nadolny, and her sister, Elizabeth Nadolny. She was also preceded in death by her beloved mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jean and Sennett Evans.
Irene leaves behind her devoted husband, Jack Evans; three daughters, Lori Stolly (Kevin) of Lima, Ohio, Tammy Page (Craig) of Kennesaw, GA, and Jeannie Shaver (Jeff) of Athens, GA; and eight grandchildren, Madison, Nathan, and Olivia Stolly, Owen and Marissa Page, and Sennett, Preston, and Harper Shaver. She is also survived by her two sisters, Grace Nadolny (Greg Hilbrich) and Cecelia Hanighen, as well as a large, loving extended family, including in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Her in-laws include Jean Holleran (Jack Holleran), Tom Evans (Karen Becker), Gwen Machala (Dave Machala), Bill Evans (Chris Evans), and Tim Evans (Barb Evans). Her nieces and nephews include Kelsey Hilbrich, Cindy Hoffman (Billy Hoffman), Jeff Holleran (Vanessa Holleran), Jon Holleran (Paige Holleran), Cheryl Brandmeir (Nick Brandmeir), Christina Holleran, Bryan Machala (Ashley Machala), Aaron Machala (Alöna Machala), Janine Brocone (Matt Brocone), Taylor Phillips (Mike Phillips), Trevor Evans (Rachel Evans), Sarah Evans Awad (Ali Awad), and Audrey Hook (Adam Hook). And their children Caitlin, Mia, Max, Jules, Jack, Morgan, Brooke, Robert, Madeline, Jacob, Clayton, Madelyn, Mackenzie, Elliott, Faye, Sloane, Bryn, Nolan, Wesley, Liam, Cooper, Hadley, Hudson, Holland. Irene always remembered all of their birthdays and even more impressive their ages.
A nurturing soul, Irene was a mother to all, always seeking to help and care for those around her. Her legacy of love, friendship, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Family and friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 pm at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
Prayers will begin Saturday at 9:15 am at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. Charles Church.
