AUSTINTOWN - Irene Jean Long, 92, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening at Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Long was born Oct. 3, 1923, in Cleveland, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Diefendahler) Haller. Irene and her family came to the Youngstown area in 1983.
Irene worked for the Medina County Gazette for 18 years as an ad proofreader, before retiring in 1982.
She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Medina for many years.
Irene's former husband, Arden A. Ferrell, whom she married on Sept. 4, 1947, died May 24, 1954.
Irene will be lovingly missed by her husband of 33 years, Blaine R. Long, whom she married on April 9, 1983; son Arden Arthur (Patricia A.) Ferrell Jr. of Florida; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, John and Elizabeth, and former husband Arden, Irene was preceded in death by her sister, Helen E. Black; and infant brother Jack Haller.
Irene will be laid to rest at Acacia Park Cemetery in Cleveland.
