AUSTINTOWN...Services will be Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, and at 10:30 AM at St. Dominic Church for James N. Atsberger age 88 of Austintown who passed away Thursday evening at his home.
Jim was born December 1, 1916, in Hubbard, Ohio the son of James J. and Mary Rose Gries Atsberger.
A 1935 graduate of Hubbard High School, and had trained under his father to become a top notch mechanic. In 1941 he served as a Junior Aircraft Mechanic for the Army Air Corps at Wright Patterson Airfield in Dayton. Following Pearl Harbor he was assigned to Hickman Field in Hawaii where he was the chief aircraft armament inspector from 1942 to 1946. He returned home in 1946 and had worked as a salesman at Al Wagner Motor Sales on Market Street, and later worked for U.S. Steel at its McDonald Works for eleven years retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. Dominic Church, and loved gardening, and his dogs.
He is survived by his wife the former Margie A. Sheridan whom he married June 26, 1948, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters Beverly Connor, Rita Mather, and Margaret Gilmartin, and a brother Francis Atsberger.
