James Bayer

October 18, 1934 — April 12, 2013

AUSTINTOWN - A prayer service will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Austintown for Mr. James "Jim" C. Bayer, 78, who died Friday morning at Hospice House.

A son of James and Anna Jager Bayer was born Oct. 18, 1934, in Baltimore, and moved to this area Aug. 21, 1968.

Jim was a self employed sales man for Jewel Tea Company for 37 years, a member of the church and had served as a Sergeant in the Army National Guard. Besides spending time with his family, Jim loved to fish, especially when it was with his friend, Randy Kerr.

He leaves his wife, the former Wilma Wilson, whom he married Oct. 27, 1956; three daughters, Terrie (Don) Hill of Vienna, Karen Bayer of Virginia and Loretta (Glenn) Pupino of North Jackson; two sons, Tony (Kerry) Bayer of Brunswick and Steve (Amy) Bayer of Upper Arlington, Ohio; grandchildren, James (Candra) Bayer, Jessica (Josh) Crissman, Kyle Beebe, Nikia Boyk, Austin, Natalie and Zachary Bayer, Christopher Hill, Andrew and Lauren Bayer, and Sean and Matthew Gould; two great-grandchildren, Lorelei and Josie Bayer; a sister, Alice (Gilbert) Velasco of Abingdon, Md.; and a brother, Dennis (Mary) Bayer of Baltimore.

Memorial contributions maybe made to Hospice House or St. Jude's Children Hospital, in memory of Jim.

Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
