POLAND - Services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, with Military Honors for James F. Horack, 71, who died suddenly, early Monday morning at his home in Poland.
"Jim" was born Oct. 27, 1946, in Lakewood, the son of Frank A. and Evelyn L. (Zusy) Horack.
He was a 1964 graduate of Crestview High School and then attended Kent State University as a member of its R.O.T.C. program. He then completed his Officers Training in Oklahoma, becoming a Commissioned Officer and serving as a Lieutenant, during the Vietnam War.
He had a career of over 40 years as a Hydraulic Engineer, and recently as an associate at SunSource. Jim was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing with his golf league friends. Jim also enjoyed skiing. He was a member of the Watertown Ski Patrol in New York State, and was a member of the Ski Chalet racing team and a youth coach.
Jim is survived by his wife, the former Susan K. Higgins, whom he married March 14, 1982; a daughter, Becky Horack of Poland; two sons, John J. (Amy) Horack of Adams Center, N.Y. and Shawn (Kim) Clark of Atlanta; a brother, Kurt (Bonnie) Horack of Mantua; two step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call Saturday from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, 2726 Center Road.
