CANFIELD - A memorial service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 20, at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in North Jackson for James E. Johnson, 72, who died early Sunday morning surrounded by his family.
James was born Sept. 28, 1936 in Youngstown to the late Elwood R. and LaVern L. Gries Johnson.
He was a graduate of South High School, Class of 1954. A veteran of the U.S. Navy and member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church.
James was a printer by trade, he retired from the Mahoning County Joint Vocational School MCJVS, where he taught graphic arts for 22 years retiring in 1994.
He leaves his wife, Lucy A. Johnson, to whom he was married 29 years; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Christine Johnson of Grapevine, Texas, daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Mark Levy of Grapevine; and six grandchildren.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church from 10 to 11 a.m.
Memorial contrubutions may be made to the Gethsemane Lutheran Church or Hospice of the Valley in James' memory.
