James Jones

POLAND – A prayer service will be held on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Boardman, for Mr. James A. Jones, 77, who passed peacefully Friday morning surrounded by his family during a very brief stay at the Hospice of the Valley.

Jim was born Oct. 19, 1941, a son of the late James S. and Suzanne (Latura) Jones.

He was a 1959 graduate of Struthers High School and a graduate of Youngstown State University.

He served in The U.S. Marine Corps Reserves for six years. Jim had worked at Boardman Steel, Inc. as a structural engineer, retiring in 2008.

He had been an active member of Saint Luke’s Parish of Boardman since 1979, a member of the Holy Name Society and a past member of Parish Council, chairperson of church festival for 12 years, head usher and fundraiser for the new church.

He was involved with Donate Life of Ohio.

Jim leaves his wife, the former Mary Ann Mayesky, whom he married June 26,1965 in Saint Stanislaus of Youngstown; his daughter, Deborah (Samuel) Austrino of Westerville; his son, Brian Jones of Bexley; his brother, Jerry (Amy) Jones of Lisbon; three grandchildren, Jacob Austrino, Sophia and Grace Jones; his sister-in-law, Margaret Foutz of Poland and his brother-in-law, Jerry (Terry) Mayesky of Columbus; and his loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
