NORTH JACKSON - A memorial service will be held Saturday at 5 p.m. at the First Federated Church for James B. Lawrence, 71, who passed away Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
James was born April 6, 1945, in Southgate, Calif., a son of the late Berlin and Ruth (Phillips) Lawrence.
James was a retired cement contractor and a member of the First Federated Church, where he was a part of the Praise Team.
He loved music and playing guitar. He enjoyed the outdoors and bass fishing. James also enjoyed raising backyard chickens.
His greatest love was for his family, especially his grandchildren, who said he was the coolest grandpa ever.
James leaves his wife, the former Pamela R. Maxwell, whom he married May 4, 2005; his stepchildren, Jennifer LaLime of Berlin Center, Jodi Laug of Erie, Colo., Peter LaLime of Portsmouth, N.H. and Jason LaLime of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Philip (Jane) Lawrence of Weatherford, Texas; 13 grandchildren, Nicc Hoy, Brianna, Joshua, Abigail and Sara Sudano, Oscar, Maxwell, Porter, Boston, Coleton, and Elias LaLime, and Owen and Natalie Laug; and a great-granddaughter, Hailey.
Family and friends may call Saturday from 4 to 5 p.m. at the church.
