James Loshinsky

December 21, 1925 — October 17, 2016

CANFIELD - A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at 11 a.m., at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, for Mr. James R. Loshinsky, 90, who passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at Hospice House, with his loving family at his bedside.
Mr. Loshinsky was born on Dec. 21, 1925, in East Palestine, son of Carl and Pattie Benton Loshinsky.
James was a graduate of The Ohio State University with his Bachelor's degree in Political Science, and later went on to obtain his law degree at Youngstown State University.
James married his first wife, Nancy Patchen Loshinsky, and is the father of four children, Jeffrey of Hudson, N.Y., Jon (Didi) of Ennis, Texas, Andrew of Kenningston, and Jennifer (Jamie) Huff of Lisbon.
He was employed by the Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation for 22 years as a real estate staff attorney, where he met his most recent wife, Josephine Valantine Loshinsky in 1983. Together, they moved to Dallas, where he was admitted to the practice of law, becoming a member of the Law Firm of Evans, Loshinsky & Zoba from 1983 to 1986. They later relocated to Ohio, where they built their home in Canfield.
He was an avid reader and loved to listen to both classical and jazz music. He also enjoyed gardening, and woodworking. James was very proud of his workshop, spending countless hours making various end tables, which he proudly displayed in his home. He also built beautiful bird feeders for the birds that he spent many hours watching.
James was happiest showing off his cooking skills, and being with family and friends.
James leaves behind his loving wife of 33 years, Josephine; his four children; grandson Hunter Joseph Loshinsky; three stepchildren, Patricia Valantine of Girard, Edward (Karen) Valantine of Canfield, and Walter (Bethann) Valantine of Canfield; and numerous stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Horace C. and his sister, Helen.
Family and friends may pay their respects Saturday from 10 until 10:50 a.m. at the funeral home.
