POLAND - James Moran, 79, died on February 27, 2024.
He was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on January 30, 1945, a son of Joseph and Isabel (Conley) Moran.
After graduating from Ursuline High School in 1963, James went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Penn-Ohio College. His work as a data processing supervisor for Youngstown Sheet and Tube spanned through two company mergers, showcasing his resilience and expertise in the field.
Beyond his professional achievements, James was known for his deep love for his family. He cherished moments spent with his grandchildren and maintained close relationships with old friends throughout the years. An avid reader, James found solace and joy in the pages of books.
One of James's proudest accomplishments was his involvement with the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Through this organization, he played a vital role in organizing programs that provided underprivileged children with opportunities to engage in various activities.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Marty Moran and sister, Marilyn Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Smith; his son, Dr. JP (Dr. Kelly) Moran, of Concord, OH; three daughters, Maggie (Dr. Ryan) Palmer, of Hudson, Dr. Maureen (Dr. David) Knechtel, of Johnson City, TN and Colleen (Rob) Kepple, of Hudson, OH; two sisters, Janet Hawkins and Elyce (Bill) Fleming; and nine grandchildren, Dylan, Mari, Finn, Mackenzie, Alexa, Maddox, Avery, Reese, and Bo.
Calling hours to honor James will take place at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes Poland Chapel on Wednesday, March 6th, 2024, from 9:30 to 10:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Church at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will be at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
