A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 1 PM at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel for James Ocarz, 94, who passed away Sunday at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center.
James was born Jan. 2, 1922 in Youngstown, a son of the late Paul and Lyla (Nelson) Ocarz.
James attended Woodrow Wilson High School and then graduated from South High School. Following high school he attended Youngstown College. He was co-owner with the late Gideon Johnson of Johnson & Ocarz Sign Company. James was an avid golfer and was a member of the YDIGA League and the Caddie Association at Mill Creek Golf Course. He golfed well into his 80's and had 2 hole-in-ones during his life. He also enjoyed bowling and played on the Mar-Hill Lanes leagues. James was gifted at building and repairing almost anything. He enjoyed helping his family members and neighbors with all their household projects.
James is survived by his wife, the former Marian Adams, whom he married Feb. 7, 1948; his six children, Barbara (Michael) Roman of Austintown, Charles (Elena) Ocarz of Springfield, MO., Susan (James) Krumpak of Poland, Paul Ocarz of Youngstown, Carolyn (Bryan) Wallner of West Vancouver, Canada, and Monica (Rick) Rothhaas of Cincinnati; twelve grandchildren, Michelle and Jennifer Roman, Charles and Monica Ocarz, Katie, Karen, and Kevin Krumpak, Lyla, Audrey, and Peter Wallner, and Cameron and Molly Rothhaas; and a brother, Edward (Helen) Ocarz of Campbell.
Family and friends may call Wednesday from 11 AM to 1 PM at the funeral home. .
