CANFIELD - A private memorial will be held at a later date for James F. Stoops, 80, who died suddenly Thursday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
James was born Dec. 16, 1937, in Youngstown, the son of Alfred and Jane (Hamley) Stoops.
He was a graduate of East High School and received a Bachelors degree in Education from Youngstown College.
James worked for Stackhouse Construction in the administration office for 15 years.
He enjoyed watching football and playing golf in his spare time.
James is survived by seven daughters, Susan Kennedy (Eric Hall) of Bellview, Wash., Mary (Bruce) Rhodes of Greenford, Janie Dohar of Boardman, Sally Stoops (Sean McDougal) of Richfield, Jennifer (Anthony) Bodnark of Aldi, Va., Erica (Joe) Ghossain of Boardman, and Laura (Bryan) Borello of Delaware, Ohio; two sons, James (Barbara) Stoops of Rochester, N.Y. and Jeffrey (Greta) Stoops of Aurora; brother, Bob (Joann) Stoops of Struthers; sister-in-law Dee Stoops of Boardman; brother-in-law Alex Kralj; mothers of his children, Dorothy Martig of Boardman and Kathy Stoops in Youngstown; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Marianne Kralj; brothers Ron and Paul Stoops; and an infant son, Daniel.
Per James wishes, there will be no calling hours.
