Jane Clarke

September 28, 1931 — October 5, 2014

YOUNGSTOWN - After 36 years apart, Jane Elizabeth (Lindsay) Clarke has gone to join her husband, George. Jane passed away peacefully on Oct. 5, 2014, in the comfort of her son Tom's home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on Sept. 28, 1931, Jane was the daughter of George A. and Mary E. Simon Lindsay.

After graduating from the Trumbull School of Nursing, Jane worked in private practice until being employed by St. Elizabeth Hospital. She retired in 1996, after 36 years of dedicated service.

Jane was very involved in her children and grandchildren's lives. She served as Cub Scouts Den Mother, football mom, and chauffeur for the neighborhood children on Willis Avenue. Jane's favorite activity upon retirement was attending her grandchildren Janie, Tommy, Jake and Scott's school activities and watching their sporting events; they loved spending time with and taking care of their Grandma as well. Jane enjoyed painting, volunteering at the Butler Institute of Art and with Friends of the Boardman Library, and was involved with her church, Zion Lutheran.

Jane leaves behind her son, Allen (Kate Neel), now in New Jersey, son David (Madeline Yazbek) of Youngstown, son-in-law Pete Chrystal of Chippewa Lake, her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Carol (Dudash) of Youngstown, with whom she had made her home since January 2014; and 11 grandchildren, Janie, Tommy, Jake, Scott, Lauren, Jessica, Patrick, Julia Rose, Sarah, George, and Rebecca. She is survived by her brothers, Jack Lindsay (Dottie) of Poland and Jerry Lindsay (Linda) of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; her sister-in-law, Ginny Lindsay of Xenia; her brother-in-law, Allie Clarke (Maribel); and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; daughter Mary Beth Chrystal; brothers George and Richard Lindsay; and grandson John Clarke.

The Clarke family extends special thanks to the staff of Hospice House/Hospice of the Valley, who helped them make Jane's last months comfortable. The family also gives heartfelt thanks to personal caregivers Sandy, Karen, Debbie, Linda, Judy, Mary and Marianne for the outstanding care and love they provided to "Lady Jane," and to her faithful visitors and dear friends, Ag and Martha and Dale.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that monetary donations be made to the Zion Lutheran Church on Canfield Road, or Hospice of the Valley in Jane's memory.

Callings hours will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the Higgins Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, followed by a funeral service.
