Janet Allen

Janet was born May 3, 1931, in Cleveland, the daughter of the late Paul and Helen Fedor Sharkey. 

After the unexpected death of her beloved husband, Russell D. Allen Sr., whom she married in 1955 and who died in 1972, and her daughter Susan Nicastro 1985, Janet remained a homemaker who dedicated her life to raising her children. 

Janet was a former parishioner of Holy Family Church. 

Golfing and bowling were among Janet’s favorite hobbies. She was also a fantastic baker; apple pies being a family favorite! Janet also had a knack for refinishing furniture and floral arranging. 

Janet is survived by her daughters, Amy (Edward) Gentile of Las Vegas and Deborah (Robert) Rupp of Boardman; son, Russell Allen Jr. of Canfield; grandchildren, Stephanie Sims, Jennifer Nicastro, Constance Nicastro, Michael (Jennifer) Nicastro, Erin Rice, Sydney Rupp, Tara Larrick, Eddie Gentile and Jack Gentile; sister, Pat Elias of Cleveland; and son-in-law, Ralph Nicastro. 

She was also preceded in death by her siblings, William Sharkey, Eugene “Ozzy” Sharkey, Thomas Sharkey, Benjamin “Bud” Sharkey and Bette Connor. 

Family and friends may call 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m.
