AUSTINTOWN - Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 11 a.m. at the Austintown Community Church for Janet B. Billock, 85, who passed away Friday morning at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, after a brief illness.
Janet was born Nov. 16, 1928, in Beaver Township, a daughter of the late Webster and Helen (Peters) Fisher.
Janet was a 1946 graduate of Boardman High School. She had been a billing clerk for Joe Dickey Electric when she retired in 1985. She was a devoted member of the Austintown Community Church, where she had previously been a Sunday school teacher, a Cub Scout Den Mother and a member of Ruth Circle. Janet was also an active member of the Mill Creek Chapter of the ABWA for almost 40 years, where she held many offices and chairs. Twice, the Chapter honored her as their Woman of the Year. She was a proud cancer survivor and member of their ABWA Relay for Life Team. She very much enjoyed crocheting, her craft club and her JEM Club. Janet was also an active admirer and collector of Mickey Mouse/Steamboat Willie and Emmett Kelly memorabilia. Janet's greatest enjoyment was raising her children and supporting and attending their various activities, especially sporting and musical events.
Her husband, Fred J. Billock, whom she married June 26, 1948, in Phoenix, passed away May 10, 1993.
Janet leaves her son, Fred "Bud" J. (Cheryl nee' Babinchak) Billock Jr. of North Royalton; her daughter, Joyce Billock of Austintown; her dear cousin, Mary (LaMar) Zwingler of Canfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janet was also preceded in death by her brother, Donny Fisher of Phoenix.
Family and friends may pay their respects Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel and Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Austintown Community Church.
In lieu of flowers, material tributes may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society ABWA, Mill Creek Chapter 525 North Broad, Canfield, OH 44406 or the Chapter's Education Fund.
Burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Janet's family would like to give a special thanks to the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and 8500 Wing at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
