Jean Cohen

December 30, 1927 — March 19, 2011

BOARDMAN- Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Ohev Tzedek Shaarei Torah Congregation, 5245 Glenwood Ave., for Jean E. "Aunt Jean" Cohen, 83, who passed away peacefully Saturday morning at Hospice House.

Jean was born Dec. 30, 1927, in Youngstown, the daughter of George and Celeste Leone Vecchione.

She graduated from South High School. She was a cashier for Cochran Sparkle Market and retired in 1987. She was a member of the B'nai B'rith, and the Stambaugh Pillars and enjoyed her time with the Gibson Girls. She was a generous donor to numerous charitable organizations and attended many benefits throughout her life. She was well known and loved by many.

Her greatest love was for her husband, Gerald H. "Jerry" Cohen, whom she married Nov. 10, 1974, and passed away May 16, 2009. Together they loved their families, friends and life.

She will deeply missed by her three sisters, Ann Monroe, Angie Guy Palombaro and Mary Rondinelli, all of Boardman; her two brothers, Carmen Donna Vecchione of Boardman and Henry Frances Vecchione of Struthers; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Mendel Rosenberg of St. Louis and Grace Cohen of Vienna; and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Thomasine Marsco.

Family and friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfied Chapel and Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Ohev Tzedek Shaarei Torah Congregation.

Material tributes may take the form of donations to the Ohev Tzedek Shaarei Torah Congregation, the Hospice House or the Heritage Manor.
