POLAND - Prayers will begin Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Church for Jean E. Gallagher, 83, who died Sunday morning at Masternick Memorial.
Jean was born May 19, 1930, the daughter of Martin and Jean Robinson Broderick.
A 1948 graduate of South High School she began working as a window display designer at the former McKelvey Department store, and later would serve as the cafeteria manager at Holy Family School for almost 40 years, before retiring in 2000. She was a charter member of the Holy Family Church and bowled in its bowling league.
Her husband, Robert Gallagher, whom she married Aug. 27, 1955, died Sept. 26, 1980.
She is survived by three daughters, Patricia (Alan) Gustafson of North Lima, Mary Ann (Chuck) Ramsey of Boardman and Katie (Ken) Kontely of Columbus; seven grandchildren, Eric and Rick Gustafson, Chuckie and Megan Ramsey and Sarah, Nikki and Sami Kontely; a sister, Maureen Mylott of Texas; and two brothers, Martin (Jean) Broderick of Kansas City, Mo. and Thomas (Carol) Broderick of Las Vegas.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Kay Chase; and six brothers, Edward, James, Arthur, Howard, John Paul and a twin brother, William Broderick.
Jean's family would like to thank the entire staff at Masternick Memorial for their dedicated and compassionate care for Jean during her time there.
