Jean Long

May 22, 1926 — October 17, 2014

AUSTINTOWN - A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel for Jean B. Long, 88, who died early Friday morning at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

Jean was born May 22, 1926, in Youngstown, a daughter of John and Isabell Price Howitt.

She was a 1944 South High graduate, a charter member of the Lockwood United Methodist Church, served as President of the Monroe School PTA from 1958 to 1959 and was "Woman of the Year" in 1959.

Jean had worked at St. Elizabeth Health Center in the Outpatient Clinic as a secretary for over 17 years.

Her favorite things to do were crossword and jigsaw puzzles, reading and crocheting.

Jean leaves her three daughters, Wendy (Nick) Martuccio of Austintown, Laurie (Walt) Williams of Mineral Ridge and Heather Petrony of Boardman; one son, Chip (Gay) Long of Newpoint Beach, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Nick (Alexis) Martuccio, Melissa (Rocco) Guzzi, Rob Hively, Becky (Ken) Votaw, Ryan (NickI) Hively, Sarah Petrony, Greg Long and C.J. (Katie) Long; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Christina Stiteler.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Paisley House and Vista at the Ridge for all the care they gave to Jean.

Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
