YOUNGSTOWN - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, 485 Redondo Road, Youngstown, for Mrs. Jean Shuster, 83, formerly of Sunnybrooke Drive, who died Monday morning at Briarfield Manor.
She was born July 29, 1928, in Youngstown, a daughter of Joseph "Charlie" and Mary Donofrio
Jean was a graduate of East High School and had worked at Stephens Shoes for 15 years and then went to work at K-Mart in Austintown as a greeter and cashier, retiring in 2000.
She was a member of the church, its Ladies Aid Group, the Wedgewood Bowling League on Friday mornings, several card clubs and was an avid bingo player, mostly at the Regency House.
Jean was married to Allen D. Shuster Sr. on Oct. 15, 1949, and he died Aug. 20, 1983.
She leaves two daughters, Mary Jo Shuster and Tracie Sauceman, both of Youngstown; a son, Allen D. "Rusty" Shuster of Austintown; four grandchildren, Tara Shuster and her fiance, John Hager, Lauren and her husband, Gary Boris, Buddy Sauceman and Joseph and his wife, Erica Sauceman; and two great-grandchildren, Xavier and Kiera Winner.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a sister, Gloria Scali and Ernest "Chuck" Caringola.
The family would like to thank the staff of Briarfield Manor and Hospice for all their care of Jean through the years.
