Jean Simpson

Jennie "Jean" Simpson, 97, of Austintown, went home to be with the Lord, on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Humility House in Austintown. Jean was born on April 5, 1920, in Brooklynn, NY., a daughter of the late Louis and Anna (Gallo) Bartolomeo.
Jean spent her time as a homemaker and was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was a faithful member of St. Charles Parish in Youngstown for over 25 years. Jean belonged to many clubs and organizations, including the Ladies Knights of Columbus. She enjoyed going on short bus trips, cruises, and traveling to Branson, Missouri and Orland, Florida.
She leaves behind, her husband and best friend of 69 years, Joe Simpson, whom she married on July 25, 1948, her two daughters; Ann Marie (John) Bezuyen, of NY., Deborah (Lawrence) Gaugenti, of NJ., two granddaughters; Alissa and Amanda (Sean) Gordon, two great-grandchildren; Casey and Henry, and a sister Katherine (Walter) Brody.
Besides her parents, Jean was preceded in death by a sister, Francie Tate.
In lieu of flowers, material tributes may take the form of donations to St. Charles Borromeo Parish, 7345 Westview Drive, Boardman, OH 44512.
Prayers will held Thursday at 10:15 at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home Boardman- Canfield Chapel, 3701 Starr's Center Drive, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 11:00 am, at St. Charles Borromeo Parish, 7345 Westview Drive, Boardman, OH 44512. Family and friends may call Wednesday, August 2, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 300 N Raccoon Rd, Youngstown, OH 44515.
