AUSTINTOWN — Joann Marie Doran, 86, died peacefully Monday morning, Dec. 7, 2020, at Briarfield Manor.
Joann was born April 23, 1934, in Youngstown, the daughter of Gabriel J. (Chuck) and Marie Louise Barber Valentino.
She was a graduate of East High School, followed by attending St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, and earned her LPN from Choffin. Joann dedicated 26 years of her life as a nurse at Gateways for Better Living. She also studied at Victor George Beauty Academy and independently operated a private salon until 2018. Joann was a devout parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
On May 31, 1954, Joann married the love of her life, James T. Doran; they were together until his passing Aug. 4, 1985.
Joann is survived by her two daughters, Jacquelyn (David) Cline and Joyce (Robert) Cene; grandchildren Eric Fowler, TSgt. Raymond Fowler, Dr. Ashley Fowler, Stacie (John) Lesicko, Katie (Ryan) Herron, Kelly (Jeff) Dixon, Ryan Cene, Taylor (Rupak) Cene-Acharya, Ross Cene, Thad (Jess) Wellington, Jon Paul Wellington, Kellie Jo (BJ Struman) Wellington; 12 great-grandchildren; and three nephews, favorite oldest nephew, John, her godson, Michael, and Joseph D’Egidio.
Joann was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Janice Wellington Neupert; son, James M. Doran; sister, Evelyn Rose D’Egidio; and longtime companion, Elmer Ware.
A private family Mass of Christian burial will be officiated by the Rev. Phillip Rogers at St. Charles Church and she will be laid to rest in Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society to honor Joann’s love of animals, or in the spirit of Christmas, to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
