NILES - Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, for Joanne Sauer Pentz, 90, who quietly passed with family around her on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018 at home.
Joanne was born May 14, 1928, in Warren, the daughter of Bentley and Josephine (Curtis) Sauer.
She grew up in the Cleveland area and graduated from Chagrin High School in 1946.
Joanne married Ronald Pentz on Sept. 25, 1948, and was married for 67 years before his passing on Nov. 22, 2015.
Together they settled in Austintown where they raised their three children, Cole, Carrie and Ron Jr. Upon retiring from Packard Electric after 28 years. Joanne and Ron moved to Diehl Lake in Berlin Center where they enjoyed lake life and made many friends. Later they moved to Canfield where they resided for 17 years.
Joanne loved to knit, crochet, tat and sew. She was extremely talented at all needle work, winning blue ribbons at the Canfield Fair. She was also known for her baked goods, especially pies and cookies.
Joanne and Ron loved to dance and belonged to several danced clubs. They also were members of the Lake Milton Association. Together they were avid Youngstown State University fans and tailgaters. Joanne was a member of Eastern Star and was past president of the Trias Chapter currently Chapter 1908 O.E.S. She belonged to the Western Reserve Knitting Guild and since moving to Canfield, was a member of the Western Reserve United Methodist Church in Canfield.
Joanne leaves her children, Cole (Sandy) Pentz, Carrie (Andy) Razzano, and Ron Pentz Jr. along with eight grandchildren, Tucker (Kapri) Pentz, Maggie (Rick) Law, Liz Geragi, Tabitha (Jay) Chaney, Mauri (Don) Pastore, Dr. Andrew (Suzanne) Razzano, Ronnie Pentz III, and Colin Pentz; and eight great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may call for one hour prior to the funeral.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Suites in Niles for their exceptional care and compassion given to Joanne.
