A prayer service will be held on Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Austintown for Mrs. Joanne P. Seman, 73, formerly of Austintown, who died Thursday evening at Vista Center of Boardman surrounded by her family.
She was born Oct. 10,1944, in Youngstown, a daughter of Michael and Madeline (Bisso) Biastro.
Joanne was a 1962 graduate of The Rayen School and had worked at Hills Department Store as an office supervisor. She was a member of the church for over 44 years, the Altar & Rosary Society, and had served as its president for three terms. Joanne also was a greeter at the church and had worked with the youth ministry.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards especially with her "card club ladies", and liked to collect the Lenox Butterflies. Joanne's greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and cooking for her family and friends.
She leaves her husband, Ronald, whom she married May 6, 1967; two daughters, Christine (Dr. Michael) Haggerty and Kimberly (Robert) Toth, both of Boardman; five grandchildren, P.J. , Kacey and Mia Haggerty and Bob and Allison Toth; and one sister, Teresa (Jeff) Svoboda of Hayes, Va.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary "Mickey" Williams; and her brother, Anthony Biastro.
Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Joanne's family would like to thank the staff at Vista Care, Boardman for the care and compassion that was given to her during her stay .
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley in memory of Joanne.
