Johanna Miller

Johanna ?Jo? Miller, 84 of Village Square Condominiums of Chardon, Ohio passed away at Hospice House on Sharrott Road in Boardman, Ohio on June 20, 2007.

Johanna ?Jo? Henrietta Miller was born on November 21, 1922 in Coleman, Wisconsin. Her parents were Derick and Martha Brault. She grew up in the Niagara, Wisconsin area and graduated from Niagara High School.

Jo became a US Navy WAVE in 1942 and was featured in a Navy recruiting poster during World War II. She met her husband, John P. Miller while they were stationed at the Patuxent River Naval Base in Maryland. They were married there in March 7, 1945. At the end of the war they moved to Cleveland, and then in 1956 to Munson Township, Chardon, Ohio where Jo was a stay at home Mom, homemaker and volunteer.

Her husband John P. Miller died March 8, 1978 in an industrial explosion while working at Lincoln Electric, Cleveland.

She is survived by her daughter, retired Navy Captain, Janet M. Arnett and her husband, Theodore Arnett, of 24095 Cedar Lake Lane, Lake Villa, IL 60046. Her son, John R. Miller and his wife, Kathy Miller of 154 Creston Drive, Boardman, Ohio 44512 and three grandsons, Nathan John of Boardman, Zachary John P. of Tampa, and Tyler Mitchell Miller of Orlando.

Other survivors include her brother, Fabian Brault of Neenah, WI; sister, Elaine Gunville of Niagara, WI; sister, Audrey Bilski of Trenton, MI; and sister, Delores Vandermoss of Kewaunee, WI.

Jo was an active member of the WAVES National and Women?s Memorial supporter. She was a member of St. Mary?s Church in Chardon.

Jo was one of the founders of the Geauga Community Hospital Volunteers where she worked in the gift shop. She always volunteered for the holidays so others could be with their families. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed walking, cross country skiing, traveling, plays, concerts and lunch with friends. Jo?s Clambakes were an annual event.

Even with all the snow in Chardon, Jo was a grandmother on the go. Her car headed to Boardman where she never missed an athletic or school event of her three grandsons. She especially enjoyed Little League games in Boardman Park.

Jo loved fashion and was known for her large collection of hats, scarves, pins, and earrings. Jo would be one of the first to arrive at the annual Angels of Easter Seal Fashion show with a car full of Chardon friends.

A celebration of her life will be at 7:00p.m. Wednesday, June 27th at the Poland Chapel of Higgins Reardon on 2726 Center Road route 224 Poland.
The family will receive friends and relatives one hour before the memorial service.

On Thursday, June 28th friends and family are invited to reminisce the many years of shared friendship and good times at a luncheon at 12:30 pm in Chardon at the Fowlers Mill Inn and Tavern on 10700 Mayfield Road
