POLAND - Prayers will begin Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at the Holy Family Church, for John J. "Jack" Barrett, 81, who died peacefully Saturday evening at Sunrise of Poland Assisted Living.
Jack was born Sept. 13, 1933, in Cleveland, the son of John and Margaret (Patton) Barrett of Achille Island, Ireland.
Jack graduated from Case Western Reserve in 1955, as an electrical engineer and worked in Ohio, California and Kentucky for many years until his retirement.
He was an avid golfer and very proud of her Irish heritage.
Jack is survived by his wife, the former Geraldine Dupay, whom he married July 19, 1958; his children, John (Linnea) of South Bend, Ind., Julie (Michael) Ajdour of San Diego, Jeanne (Bruce) Richey of Dublin, Ohio, and James (Angela) Barrett of Poland; grandchildren Colleen Barrett, Zachary Ajdour, Austin and Justin Richey, and Daniel, Olivia and Bryce Barrett; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Mary Patricia Barrett and Peggy Barrett; and brother Dr. James Barrett.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
