CANFIELD - Services will be Monday at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony Church in Youngstown for John Anthony Battafarano age 89 who passed away Thursday afternoon at Forum Northside Medical Center.
John was born August 10, 1917, in Youngstown the son of Philip and Antoinette Battafarano.
A proud W.W.II Army veteran, He served in the Army Corp of Engineers during W.W.II. Serving in France, Belgium, and Italy, and in the D-day invasion on Omaha Beach. Mr. Battarfarano worked as a self employed bricklayer before retiring in 1977. He was lifelong member of St. Anthony Church, and was a member of the Italian American War Veterans.
His wife the former Marie Esther Liguore whom he married April 19, 1947, died December 15, 2006.
He is survived by his two sons, Philip Renee Batafarano of Boardman, and Jack Battafarano of Canfield, his granddaughter, Danielle Battafarano of Poland, his sister, Phyllis Battafarano, and a brother James Battafarano both of Liberty.
Besides his wife and parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Sam, Albert, Joseph, and Nicholas Battafarano.
Friends may call from 4 PM to 7 PM Sunday evening at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, and from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM Monday morning at St. Anthony Church.
