POLAND - Prayers will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church, for John H. Burger, 86, who passed away early Monday morning at the VA Clinic in Sandusky.
John was born Dec. 4, 1925, in Cleveland, a son of the late Carl and Verna Schleger Burger.
John graduated from Willoughby High School and the Coyne Electric School. He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was a manager for Phoenix Electric Company. He also loved to golf.
John leaves his wife of 62 years, the former Betty Bezzeg, whom he married Aug. 6, 1949; a daughter, Christine Paul Hollis of Poland; two sons, John Diane Krill Burger of Sewickley, Pa. and Joseph Kathy Burger of Kingston, Pa.; a brother, Charles Donna Burger of Mentor; six grandchildren, Melissa Gajdos, Tiffany Masi, April, Michael, Joseph and Jennifer Burger; and nine great-grandchildren.
John also was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Rankin and a brother, Walter Burger.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
