YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m., at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Youngstown for John N. Burlock, who passed away late Sunday evening at Washington Square Nursing Home in Warren.
John was born Nov. 9, 1944 , in Youngstown, a son of the late Nicholas and Theresa (Belinsky) Burlock.
John graduated from Austintown Fitch High School. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the church and Austintown Eagles 3298. John worked for State Cheverlot, Glass Masters, Warren Seat Cover, and Higgins Ambulance Company. He was also the owner of Independent Auto in Maryland, serving the Washington and Virginia areas. He was volunteer firefighter for 25 years for Austintown Fire Department. John collected die cast cars.
John leaves his wife, the former Sandra Bobovecz, whom he married Aug. 5, 1963; a daughter, Patti Burlock of Girard; a son, John (Christine) Burlock of Boardman; granddaughter Nicole Burlock (Tim Spencer); and his extended family, Randy and Kristen Hamady and their children, Evan and Kiley Hamady; and his dog, Peanut.
Family and friends may pay their respects Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where a Panichida service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
The Burlock family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley and the staff at Washington Square Nursing Home for their compassionate care of John.
