John Hoover

FOWLER - Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, for John J. Hoover, 75, who passed away Sunday at Sharon Regional Health Center.

John was born March 5, 1939, in Isaac's Creek, W.Va., a son of the late Arlis and Virginia (Anderson) Hoover.

John was a 1958 graduate of Unidis High School in West Milford, W.Va.

He was employed by the US Steel McDonald Works, where he was a strander on ten mill until their closure. John then became operator of he his own lawn service. He enjoyed stock car racing, old western movies, and classic cars. He would attend races at local race tracks in Ohio and Pennsylvania. John loved meeting people and talking to them. He always loved going to McDonalds for his coffee and morning chats.

John leaves his wife, the former Claudia Sweeney, whom he married Dec. 31, 1970; his son, Brian (Christi) Hoover of Oklahoma City; his four sisters, Nancy (Gary) McDonald of Canfield, Leola (Nick) Allen, Wilma (Mike) Yonosik, and Margaret (Joseph) Hopkinson, all of Girard; his four brothers, William (Jane) Hoover of Hubbard, James N. (Vera) Hoover of Cape Coral, Fla., Robert Hoover of Niles, and David (Brenda) Hoover of West Middlesex, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Orpha Hoover, who raised him.

Family and friends may pay their respects Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
