Austintown. . . . Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel and 10:00 Am in St. Joseph Church for Mr. John Joseph Janca, Sr. age 82 of Austintown who died Sunday afternoon in Briarfield Manor.
Mr. Janca was born July 26, 1921, in Flushing, Mich. a son of Martin and Mary Gaul Janca and moved to this area in 1966 from Kansas City.
He retired after 37 years from General Motors in 1975 as a Material Handling Supervisor. John is an army WWII veteran serving under General George Patton in the European Theater. He is a member of the church ; Austintown Lions Club; Knights of Columbus in Michigan. John was a hard working man and took pride in yard work and loved golf.
Besides his wife Helen K. Okenka whom he married June 15, 1946 , he is survived by his son JohnSusan Janca, Jr. of Canfield; 2 sisters Amelia Sovis of Flushing, Mich. and Anna Frank Huyshy of Rosscommon, Mich. and a brother Joseph Loretta Janca of Owosso, Mich. ; 2 granddaughters Laurel and Ashley Janca.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters Angeline Gengler and Mary Vitous and 2 brothers Frank and Martin Janca.
