BOARDMAN - Prayers will begin Thursday morning at 10 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Christine Church for John P. Latone Jr., 54, who died early Sunday morning at his home surrounded by his family after a one year courageous battle with lung cancer. John's family knew that cancer had met its match when he was diagnosed and felt that it was the Lord who took him on Sunday, not cancer.

He worked as a life insurance agent and financial advisor with the Chase Agency in Boardman for 20 years. John was an avid sports fan especially the Browns, Indians, Cavs and Ohio State. He had coached Little League and Pony League baseball for the Millcreek Baseball Association and later coached Class "B" baseball for Roth Bros.
He is survived by his wife, the former Kathy Donofrio, whom he married Nov. 14, 1981; his mother, Jean Latone of Austintown; a daughter, Nicole Michael Crockett of Canfield; his son, J.D. Heather Latone of Austintown; his pride and joy, his two grandchildren, Christian and Angelea Latone; sister Collette Robert Gorski; his niece and nephews; and many wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, John P. Latone.
