POLAND - Services will be Monday at 12:30 PM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, and at 1:00 PM at Holy Family Church for Chief John "Under" Ondrusko Jr., 94 of Poland who passed away Friday afternoon at Beegly Oaks Care Center.
John was born August 18, 1911, in Cleveland, Ohio the son of John and Sophia Devosa Ondrusko.
He had worked at United Engineering as a timekeeper for many years before retiring. He had served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II in both the Pacific and North African theaters of operation aboard the "S.S. David S. Terry", and the "Oklahoma City". He received three battle stars, and numerous campaign awards for his service during W.W.II.. He later served during the Korean War aboard the Destroyer "Brice Canyon". He retired with distinction in 1969 after 24 years of service to his country. John was a member of Holy Family Church, VFW Post # 93, the New Middletown Sportsman's Club, and was an avid Gardener. He was active in the Democratic Party serving as Precinct Committeeman and District Leader.
He is survived by his wife the former, Anne Zordich whom he married May 23, 1936, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister Helen Dlacich, and three brothers, Andrew, Steve, and Joseph Androsky.
