John Pavlechko

March 20, 1931 — March 13, 2005

CANFIELD ­ There will be Memorial services at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Zion Lutheran Church for John H. Pavlechko, 73, who died Sunday morning in St. Elizabeth Health Center after a long illness.
Mr. Pavlechko was born March 20, 1931 in Youngstown, a son of Nicholas and Priscilla Vokovich Pavlechko.
He was a crane operator for WCI for 13 years, retiring in 1994. He was a crane operator in the open hearth at U. S. Steel-Ohio Works for 30 years, retiring in 1980.
Since his retirement he had worked for the Calvary Baptist Church and most recently at the Lord Of Life Lutheran Church in Canfield as a custodian.
Mr. Pavlechko was a Korean Conflict Army veteran, having served in Japan. He was a member of the church and the Argus Masonic Lodge No. 545 Canfield, the
Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 3298 the VFW Post No. 9571 Meander Post of Ellsworth and was a former member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite-Valley of Youngstown. John loved gardening, fishing and jigsaw puzzles.
He leaves his wife, the former Arlene J. Remias, whom he married Sept. 12, 1959; two sons, Thomas John of Memphis, Tenn., and David A. Katherine of Columbus; a sister, Mary Demetrios of Austintown; and a brother, Frank
Pavlechko of Madison, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Albert, Nicholas, Charles, Michael and Peter.
Friends may call from 5 to8p.m. Wednesday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, where a Masonic Service will be
held at 7:45 p.m.
Music will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday at the church and the family will receive friends after the service at the Alber Hall in the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church in memory of John.
Arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home,
Austintown Chapel.
