AUSTINTOWN - Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, at noon at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, for John Nicholas Piersant, 50, who unexpectedly passed away Monday morning at home, surrounded by his family, after a long, courageous battle.
John, the son of Donald and Julia (Doinoff) Piersant, was born Jan. 15, 1966, in Youngstown.
He was a 1984 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Post high school and the Navy, John, always skillful with his hands, worked as a painter and subcontractor. Prior to John's illness, he had become a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 33 and retired in 2004 from York Mahoning Mechanical Contractor as a journeyman, after having served a five-year apprenticeship with the Sheet Metal Workers.
In addition to always lending a hand to friends and family, his interests included fishing, hunting and traveling, especially to the sandy beaches of Florida. Most recently, this also included spending time with the newest addition to his family, Mia, his attentive cockapoo. Mostly though, John enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his niece, Hailey, and nephew Preston, whom he loved dearly.
John is survived by his father, Donald Piersant of Boardman; his mother, Julia Piersant of Austintown; his sister, Julie Ann Piersant of Lake Milton; brother Don (Stacy) Piersant of Austintown; his niece and nephew, Hailey and Preston Piersant; and his extended family, including many close cousins from the Doinoff, Piersant, and Faber families. Special recognition also includes his longtime caregiver of eight years, Yvonne Stewart.
Family and friends may call Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon.
