POLAND - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at St. Lukes Church for John "Jack" R. Price, 79, who passed away Tuesday morning at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
Jack was born May 8, 1932, in Goderich, Ontario, Canada, the son of the late Fred R. and Jeanne Johnstone Price, where he grew up and was a golf pro at Maitland Country Club.
Jack started his professional hockey career for the Chicago Black Hawks in 1951. He continued his hockey career with the Pittsburgh Hornets and Hershey Bears. After retiring from hockey, he became a NHL linesman and penalty time keeper. While in Pittsburgh, he was a golf pro at Churchill Valley Country Club and then Tippecanoe Country Club. Jack then worked for Metal Carbides as a machinist.
He loved golf and watching hockey with his grandchildren. He was also a member of St. Luke Church.
Jack leaves his wife, the former Jacqueline B. Larose, whom he married March 11, 1965; his son, Stephen R. Denise Price of Poland; and his two grandchildren, Spencer R. and Tallon R. Price.
Family and friends may call Friday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, material tributes may take the form of donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
