John Rench

CANFIELD - A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, for John C. Rench, 85, who died Thursday morning at Beeghly Oaks Nursing Home.
John was born Oct. 26, 1928, in St. Louis, to John Charles and Vivian (Couden) Rench.
He was a graduate of Fairview High School in Dayton and attended The Ohio State University. John worked for GMAC for 35 years. He retired in 1984 as assistant manager of the Youngstown Branch.
John loved the outdoors. He loved to hunt, fish, camp, golf, ski, play tennis and softball. Because of his love for baseball, he spent many years umpiring little league. He was also involved in establishing the Mahoning Valley Softball League. He organized many, many ski trips out west and to Canada and he organized golf trips to Santee, S.C. He was an avid reader and was rarely found without a book in hand. Above all else, John loved his family.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Stringfellow), whom he married Nov. 25, 1977; three sons, Jack Rench of Navarre Beach, Fla., Bob (Gwen) Rench of Seattle and Daryl (Jill) Rench of Kennesaw, Ga.; four grandchildren, Arissa, Judd, Eric, and Lauren Rench; four great-grandchildren; along with nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends may call for one hour before the service on Saturday.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of donations to Beeghly Oaks, Activities Fund, 6505 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
