BOARDMAN - A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday Feb. 4, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Church in Boardman for John Louis Reto, 80, who died Friday at the Hospice House.
John was born Dec. 13, 1930, in Youngstown, the son of Thomas and Catherine Barber Reto.
After graduating from South High School, John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He held numerous jobs over his career, most notably he worked at Packard Electric for 28 years and was a bus driver for Boardman Schools for 26 years before retiring.
He was a member of St. Charles Church and had also been a member of Salem Hills Country Club, Eagles Eirie No. 213, and Struthers Knights of Columbus Council No. 4224. Mr. Reto enjoyed cooking for family and friends and working crossword puzzles and was an avid golfer and fisherman.
During the past year, John spent his days at the Easter Seals Day Care in Boardman, where he made many friends. He truly enjoyed spending time there, and it became the highlight of his day.
He is survived by his wife, the former Catherine R. Cristo, whom he married July 20, 1968; his daughter, Julie Scott Fisher of Toledo; two grandsons, Jacob and Joshua Fisher, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Hallie Jo Reto; four brothers, Joseph, Thomas, Dominic and Anthony Reto; and a sister, Anne Ricciardi.
Friends may call from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, prior to services in St. Charles Church.
