AUSTINTOWN - Funeral services will be held Thursday at noon at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, for John L. Sullivan, 87, who died Sunday evening at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
John was born Dec. 10, 1926, in Youngstown, to George G. and Eauphemia Dockerty Sullivan.
He was a graduate of Boardman High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. John worked his entire life as an auto mechanic until his retirement.
John was a member of the Radio Control Model Airplane Club. He loved working on cars and was a handyman who could fix just about anything.
John's wife, the former Evelyn Henderson, whom he married in 1974, died in 2004.
He is survived by his two daughters, Mary Sullivan of Delray Beach, Fla., and Patricia Coryea of Boardman; a brother, Joseph (Pamela) Sullivan of Canfield; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his faithful companion, his Boston Terrier, Mr. Higgins.
John was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, George M. Sullivan.
Family and friends may call Thursday one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution, do so by performing a random act of kindness in John's memory.
