John F. Wirtz

POLAND - John F. Wirtz, 94, died peacefully Friday, August 9, 2024 at the Hospice House surrounded by his family. 

John was born Feb. 3, 1930, in Canton, the son of Hubert and Ruth Sweeney Wirtz. 

John was a member of the Knights of Columbus, He also enjoyed playing tennis the piano, cards and cribbage with his family and friends.

John's wife, the former Evelyn Christoff, whom he married Sept. 5, 1966 died Sept. 26, 2011. 

He is survived by his children, John (Catherine) Wirtz Jr. of Medina, Lisa Secora of Twinsburg, Mark Wirtz of Poland and Michael (Jenna) Wirtz of Poland; and twelve grandchildren, Jacob Wirtz, Nicholas Wirtz, Michael Secora, Magan Secora, Jason Secora, Ava Wirtz, Audrey Wirtz, Jack Wirtz, Bridget Wirtz, Toni Wirtz, Henry Wirtz and Daniel Wirtz. 

John was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Justin and William Wirtz. 

Family and friends may call Monday, August 19, 2024 at 11 am for mass at St. Charles Church. 

Professional arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.
